Talloak Construction Ltd was incorporated following requests from friends and there friends for advise on adding technology to their home to make them more energy efficient. Once you start to add smart technology to your home you soon see how you can add automation to this to start and take advantage of ways to reduce your energy usage. I started over 10 years ago around the time Alexa started to be seen in homes, by using my years of technical knowledge I was able to incorporate the use of this new tech with automations in the home.
The first automation was to enable us to turn lights on to a specific level and reducing the amount of lights we use but by also giving the ability to change scenes depending on how the room was being used.
We added to this an automation whereby when everyone left the house any lights left on automatically turned off, all of which is programmable by those living in the house. Add to this the ability to turn off all appliances like TV's lights, and anything else you don't need when out. We added heating enabling the system to turn off when everyone left and go to frost protect but coming on as someone approached the house giving it chance to warm up before they arrive home.
Not only does this reduce the energy usage of the home when it's empty it increases security, you may remember the early days of automated locks when you could shout through a window for Alexa to unlock the front door, by automating the power to Alexa on leaving this security risk was removed, we also reduce the risk of fire as all those devices you leave on standby also turn off.
